REIKI
Reiki is a non-invasive, natural form of energetic healing. The word itself, Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key), is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’.
Why Do Reiki?
I recommend Reiki as a method of general wellbeing and maintenance for any individual. We all know it is best to be preventative rather than reactive, but it is easier said than done.
A couple of years ago I fell ill with a chronic pain in my stomach. I had no other symptoms. As the pain attacks became more frequent and more severe I started to lose weight. The doctors were at a loss. The pain became so excruciating that I found myself in the back of an ambulance far away from home. A&E could do nothing but help me to manage the pain and sent me on my way. I was too far from home and I had given up hope that the doctors would be able to help me. I ended up in another hospital where I stayed for over a week while they ran every test known to man.
The tests all came back negative. Eventually the pain subsided and I returned home. A few months later and the pain started to come back. “Maybe it’s psychological” my husband said. A throw away comment that started me thinking. Just before the first outbreak of pain, I had been under a lot of pressure and this second time I was too.
I very quickly found the right person for me, a wonderful woman who helped me. After my first session with her, I asked how often should I come back. She told me “you’ll know when to call, but why don’t you do go on a course and do it for yourself?” I have never looked back. I have not suffered that pain again, nor have I needed to take any pain relief for anything else. She is a great friend and mentor, and I attribute all of this to the power of Reiki. There is always an argument that it is all coincidental, but even if that is the case, I call this coincidence Reiki!
What caused the pain – in the end, after talking with my doctor – the best answer we came up with was that the pain was a physical manifestation of the stresses I felt but ignored and swallowed in a bid to keep on keeping on.
The point here is that I had to experience a crisis and after a lot of suffering and fear I was lucky enough to find a solution that helped me. For all my friends and family, and those of you reading this, I would recommend that you do what you can to avoid letting the stresses of life get the better of you. Re-balance yourself as often as you can, in whatever way works for you.

Reiki uses the Universal life energy that is all around us. Just because we can’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but like sound waves, if they are loud enough we can feel them, we just can’t see them.
